We have a different photo theme bimontly and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations around Santa Monica. It's a great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from amateurs to professionals. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

Complete beginner? Please complete a Beginners Photography Class before attending a regular group session. This is a 3 hour structured workshop where youíll learn the basics of using your camera with more 1-on-1 time with the instructor. Scroll down for dates.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

Whatís involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. Youíll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. Youíll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. Weíre a social bunch!

After group editing session. After each group the instructor runs an optional 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session to help you improve your important post-shoot skills. While much editing can be done on modern cameras, it's best to bring a tablet or laptop with editing software to get the most out of this session. Select this option when booking to attend.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Focusing Techniques Photography Meetup - Priscilla's Gourmet Coffee Tea & Gifts - 1pm - 2 hours
Los Angeles Photography Group presents Focusing Techniques Photography Meetup If photography is one of your favorite activities and hobbies? Book into our class Focusing Techniques. During Week 2 One important technique to understand in photography, especially when youíre starting out, is the concept of focus. If you donít focus properly, you will end up with blurry photos even when all your other camera settings are correct. Focusing can be easy or difficult depending on your subject. In every photo you take, there will be a plane of focus. This is the region in space with the potential to be as sharp as possible in a photo. Although most photographers use autofocus more than manual focus, itís a good idea to be familiar with both.
